Lake Powell Trip {2017}

We had been counting down the days for our trip to Lake Powell FOREVER and it was FINALLY here! We didn't tell Adalynn about any of it. I packed us all while she was either gone or asleep. We drove to the airport and videoed her reaction! She was SO excited to go on the airplane to see Sami. It was fun to see her anticipation. We were in Phoenix for the weekend until we left for Powell on Monday :)

Waiting to board! Cute matching sisters :)

Savannah's first flight and she did awesome! Other than a blowout in the air, she was all giggles and catching some Zzzzzz's!

Adalynn was happy go lucky to watch a movie on the plane!

Amazing to watch the sunset from the air!

Keeping cool in the triple digit heat! Life is good!

This is what happens when Adalynn comes to visit ha ha!! Poor Sami! Adalynn keeps her on her toes :)

Night swim in Trent & Sherri's pool!

Savannah was SO worn out! Didn't even mind that her face was smashed into Aunt Sherri's arm....

All the family was in on a funny group text joking about going to Lake Powell. It was hilarious! While the kids were swimming, we all thought Trent was in working on getting the boat ready..... yeah actually he was just in the best spot to come up with funny lines for the group text ha ha!

She took her Sunday afternoon nap very seriously! She wouldn't wake up for nothing! I kissed her cheeks and even tickled her legs, but she just grunted and turned her head the other way... Finally after FOUR hours I got her to wake up!

Arizona skies

Savannah was a little hungry.... If we would only feed her! ha ha

On Monday, we headed out for the 4 hour drive to Lake Powell! Adalynn had no idea where we were going and who we were going to see there :) Savannah slept like a champ for most of the drive and then gave me all the cute faces for the rest!

We made it!! We happened to run into my family at Walmart as we were stopping to get cold things for meals and Adalynn looked at them all confused ha ha Family time is the best!!

There was a scheduling mix up with the boat, so we ended up getting two houseboats to be able to fit us all. One was called Wolf Den and the other was #381. We all slept in the marina the first night while everyone got settled.

Headed out! My dad drove our boat and Trent drove the Wolf Den.

Wolf Den towing the boat and jet skiis

We were on #381

The boys on Wolf Den put on quite a show including a serious mooning show!

The white noise of the engine put Savannah riggggght to sleep :)

Adalynn LOVED to help Papa drive the boat

One of my FAVORITE things about Lake Powel, the awesome scenery!! Blue skies and crystal clear water!

Savannah was a total ham during the ride out! SO many cute faces and giggles!!

The upper deck had a steering wheel too, can you tell her excitement ha ha

Eric helped to man the Wolf Den wheel

The spot we had in mind was taken so it took us a while to scout a new location. In the meantime, Jordan and Adalynn took a swim!

The location scouters

We found a good cove and time to anchor the boats!

Not a bad view!

We didn't waste any time jumping in to swim, paddle board, and do down the slide! Gina brought 2 paddle boards and everyone at one point had some fun on them!

We attempted a cute in the water family picture... This is how it went ha ha! Don't let Savannah's stink face fool you, she cried for less than a minute and then was thrilled to be kicking freely in the water. Not bad for her first "cold" water experience! From then on out she enjoyed the water!

It was the running joke about swimming in between house boats to get a bottle for Savannah :)

Eric snorkeled to find the orange super soaker that sunk the day before!

Sami was queen of jumping off over the balcony!

The trip took a crazy turn after a few days! Going later to Lake Powell later in the season, you risk monsoon season and the crazy wind that comes along with that. The afternoon rolled around and a big windstorm came up, pushing the larger boat (The Wolf Den) in the other boat. It crashed into it pretty hard and even pulled out several of the huge anchors the boys dug into the ground! Thankfully there wasn't any damage to the boats other than a broken light on the side, but wow was it scary! We were all amazed that there wasn't more damage. Uncle Trent decided that we should move to a better, more protected spot to keep us safer from the wind gusts. The Wolf Den took off with all the guys and found an awesome cove to move to!

The guys worked so hard to get the anchors in there while Wolf Den came back to get the other house boat.

Check out those impressive anchor lines!

They added a few more anchors the next day just to be sure this time....

The view every morning out our houseboat kitchen window!

Again, the scenery at Lake Powell is AMAZING!!! I LOVE it!! These were all taken around our new cove :)

Back to playing!!

Adalynn was finally ready to try the slide! She loved it! See the train of pics :)

Adalynn LOVED jumping off the paddle board! She did it over and over and over again to anyone that would catch her. Aunt Sherri was a trooper doing it forever!

Slide football is a family Powell tradition it seems like! Everyone always ends up in the water taking turns catching the ball down the slide.

Jordan was the best swimming between boats with life jackets and toys!

One of my FAVORITE pictures from Powell this year!!

Meals didn't disappoint! When we stopped playing long enough to come at eat ;)

When we all came together to eat, we loved to look over the pictures and go pro videos from that day! It was fun to laugh and look back on all the fun <3

Mish Mash of fun on the jet skis!
Adalynn had a ball riding and even got to drive for a minute :)

Justin took me on a ...... ride.... If you can even call it that! More like a crazy off the wall water roller coaster! He thought it was hilarious while I was too busy screaming the whole time!

My mom kept telling him that she needed more action to keep taking pictures.... I threw up that finger to tell her to stop egging him on! I was about thrown off more than once already!

Ohhhh how I love this boy <3

The boys were all about capturing stuff on the go pro! It was so fun to watch later!

Surfing, Skiing, and all the boards behind the boat! SO much fun!
Jordan tore up surfing and that beautiful scenery with the houseboats in the back ground is pretty awesome :)

Lookin' good Papa!

Ohhh Eric..... we were all laughing SO hard at this! Between the Go Pro video of this and the out takes, it was hilarious!

My Mom and Justin go to ski together behind the boat! Super cool!

Love this pic of Uncle Trent! He was the best to organize the trip and was always taking us out in the boat!

Tubing up next! ALWAYS a favorite with everyone! We love to look back at these pictures the most at the end of the night! Always a good laugh guaranteed ;)

Another FAVORITE pic from this year's Powell trip! Adalynn LOVED the tube!

OH man this ride was hilarious!!

On to the tons and tons of random candid shots!

Sami was a lifesaver! Always ready to take Savannah so I could eat HOT food :) She was the best at putting her to sleep like this!

Helping Papa drive, her fav!

Leave it to Papa to kill the huge spider with his super soaker!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Thank Goodness for my mom! Always snapping pictures of everyone, helping with Savannah, making meals, and doing everything in between <3 She is the best!!

Family Pictures <3

Up bright and early to dig up the anchors and head back to the marina. Even though we had a few hiccups, it was a super FUN trip!

Jordan made several trips on the carts helping to haul the luggage and other stuff up to the cars. I had commented to Jordan while we were on the boat how much I was craving fountain Dr. Pepper, so on the last load  up he came walking up with a huge drink from the marina shop. Talk about one happy lady!!!

Just keeping cool in the car till we say our goodbyes :) Such a cutie!!

We hit up some good ole In N Out when we got back into Phoenix. YUM!

We sure love our AZ family and were so grateful to stay with them! Riley played barbies with Adalynn and the stories they told were hilarious!! It was all I could do to keep quiet in the hall from laughing while they kept telling stories. Riley is such a good sport! And of course Sami made sure to read Adalynn a story before bed and put up with her crazy sleeping in her bed!

Back to  Portland we go! Sad to be leaving, but we have so many fun memories of Lake Powell!
