{August 2017} Trips, Fun, & Making Summer Last

After we go back from Lake Powell, boy did we need a vacation from our vacation! It took some time to get back in the swing of things! August didn't disappoint though.... We didn't waste any time  making the hot weather count! When you live in Washington, making the most of sunshine season is what it's all about! Seriously......

Savannah sure has a soft spot for her daddy! Whether it is singing or him talking to her :)

Just sat and stared at this little roly poly bug after I put her down! Those chubby thighs and cheeks melt this mama.

Seriously.... Savannah is at it again!

It had been quite a while since we had gone to our happy place! Adalynn sure missed the popcorn ha ha

Miss Savannah is so stubborn wanting to stand and see out all the time! It is so hard to cart her 15lbs of chub around on my hip, so we yanked out the jumper, lowered it all the way down and stuffed a blanket in the back..... Wha Laaa! She was one happy camper being able to see, sit up, and flex her legs to stand.

Our sweet chubby girl!..... and STILL thinks she needs to be carried like a sling in one arm :) Oh Savannah..... We love you to pieces, even with your feisty personality!

Pretty much our life right now.....

At least someone is excited about laundry right?!

That moment when you don't use nice words and have to do a chore... It's tough to be 3! #meanmom

It's hard work watching big sister get dressed and her hair brushed! Down for the count!

Happy little squish after sleeping from 10 to 7! That sure makes for a good day!

Her reaction when I told her it was FRIDAY!!! ha ha

Look at those whispy curls coming in on the side! woop woop!!

Sister baths together are FINALLY a thing now! Adalynn was pretty darn excited!

Squeaky clean!

Savannah crashed way earlier than expected one night. She didn't even mind laying on the couch while I got Adalynn in her jammies :)

Fair Day! We started off watching some tricks at the dog show.

That moment when the Llama snuggles up to you for the picture ha ha!!!!

The fair was too much for Savannah. She was OUT!

Adalynn's favorite part is always the animals!

Aunt Sherri gave us "the addiction" recipe and boy is it addicting! Treats always taste better on Sunday!

Savannah has turned into a serious blankie snuggler and it is soooo cute! Adalynn did the same thing too. After almost 3 months, we have got each other pretty dang figured out and that makes life a little easier. Crazy how motherhood can make you feel so exhausted, fulfilled, crazy, frustrated, and so in love all in the same breath! Love my babies more than words <3

Heather, Dia, & Ruby stopped by and of course Dia was in heaven holding Savannah :)

Jordan went to Spokane to work for a few days, but we love to Skype him whenever we can!

Still the cutest wild sleeper

Quite the snuggler and looking so stinkin' cute!

Pretty princess! Adalynn is all about the accessories right now.... She is big on helping to pick her outfit and always having a bow and necklace!

She is a hard little napper! That curly matted hair tells quite the story ha ha

When you get the old baby toys down, ya know for the baby, and your toddler acts like it's Christmas morning! New fun things to explore!

Ugh I hate reflux and I am sure Savannah does too. This made my heart hurt so much that she is struggling so hard to eat and keep it down, yet it still tackling the day with a smile. That's our Miss Savannah Paige!!

That cute little squish just kills me!

Adalynn had quite the broken heart. Jordan had been gone out of town in Spokane for work for 3 days. She was DYING to play with him after missing him like crazy, but he was bombarded with SO much unforeseen work after coming home that he just couldn't. We ended up checking out a new library, getting tons of books (her favorite!), and finishing the afternoon with a playdate at McDonalds's playplace. She was one happy girl! Mom for the win!

Alderbrook Park with friends! We even took Savannah on the paddle boats this time :) It was all fine and dandy till our pedals broke, and our friends had to tow us in with their boat! I felt a little better about the whole situation knowing even little miss Ruby had a hold on our boat ha ha! Adalynn was thrilled to feed the huge jumping fish! We played in the bouncy castles, ate yummy food, and then snuggled up after dark to watch Moana on the big inflatable screen! We love these Summer nights!

I had to chuckle at this... Again, she naps HARD!

This. It has seemed like quite an uphill battle lately, but walking in to see this helped me to find my smile lost in the chaos. Welcome to our Friday night party. Marry someone who will snuggle your kids when they're sick, while you late night grocery shop, because life happens. Marry someone that will happily drink sparkling cider in bed with you on a Saturday night, while catching up on DVR shows, because he too believes that even though having a young family is exhausting, it's the absolute best. Marry someone who kisses you goodbye every morning, and even wakes you up at 6am to make sure to explain to you why he is leaving his wedding ring in the dish at home, so he doesn't lose it while going rafting with his work guys. Marry someone that plays more barbies & willingly does more dishes & laundry than you do. Marry someone who is driven to work from sun up to sun down, to provide for your family's needs in every aspect, including the occasional kitchen dance party. Marry someone who is just as adamant about you being able to stay home during the day to be a mom. Marry someone who makes you a better person & believes in you. Marry someone you can truly call your best friend!

Trying to soak up the last few warm Saturdays of the Farmer's Market! Definitely a Summer favorite for our family! It was such a beautiful sunny day. We had a picnic in the grass with our favorite yummy vendor food, Adalynn played on the toys, and there was even a robot walking around the park! He was giving high fives and taking pictures with everyone, but we couldn't convince Adalynn to go say hi to him.....

It was toasty in the sun, so after the Farmer's Market, we were the "cool" parents and let Adalynn splash in the fountain. She gave us the look several times making sure we were really serious that she could get her clothes wet ha ha! You're only little ONCE right?! Well Jordan got in too so I guess you get another chance when you have kids..... <3

We sure love walking by the water!

Bedtime snuggles with Savannah <3 That pouty lip though....

Sunday nap cuddling! I could just stare at her cuteness forever!

Adalynn has quite the cute little imagination. She is always telling some story with her figurines! When you don't have a tent, under the highchair will do ha ha! And the footrest made an excellent peep hole to peek through apparently. Such a creative girl!

We tried out a new beach down by the Columbia River! We took a picnic, played in the sand, found tons of seashells, and splashed in the water. The temps were in the 90s and the view was incredible! Jordan may or may not have had to kill a snake that came slithering through our area...And I may or may not have screamed.....Other than that excitement, it was a pretty dang fun afternoon! Adalynn loved writing in the sand, and I couldn't get over seeing her little footprint in the mud... so cute! Savannah was all smiles and we will for sure be back!

That face.... when you gotta go....

The sun wears you out that's for sure! And she was OUT!

We had a fun little day playing at IKEA and then went to see Daddy at his big tradeshow event! Boy did his booth look sharp!

He even gave Adalynn a little blue Ecolab lip balm that they were handing out. She was thrilled of course. Anything from dad is always the coolest. SO cool that she thought she had to wear it ALL on the way home! ugh I went to get her out to find it all over her face, hands, shirt, shorts, and she was was even kind enough to share it with her Poppy doll too! Hope you enjoyed your tradeshow babe, cuz I sure got a souvenir! #momlife #thatfacethough

Bike rides are her thing! Loves to be outside!

A full lap after work! Adalynn told me today that daddy goes to work everyday to make the moneys so she can go to Disneyland.... Rigggghhht haha!!!! Can you say hidden agenda?!

Happy 3 months to our little squish! She is constantly smiling, giggling, and cackling like crazy! Such a happy girl! She is a pro at knowing her mama's smell and her daddy's voice. She sleeps like a champ, eats non-stop, and loves to stand up in her jumper! Not to mention her feisty personality and thinking she runs the show :)

3 years and 3 months <3 These girls sure make our world go round!

Housework can wait.... I only have so long to snuggle my princess! This afternoon was perfection! #momsneednapstoo

She gets more grown up & beautiful everyday! How on Earth did we get so lucky?! I swear she was just a newborn like 5 minutes ago... You might be super strong willed and full of sass baby girl, but the world need souls of gold like you <3

Savannah has a long list of quirks for only being 3 months old... She sleeps in her crib at night, but sometimes for her nap during the day, I lay her in our bed so Adalynn won't wake her up playing. Something about our bed she LOVES. She is out within minutes, and sleeps the longest and deepest than anywhere else. Something about a tiny baby snuggled in a HUGE bed just melts me!

We decided last minute one Saturday to go to the coast for the day! It has been a while since we took Adalynn to see the seals and sea lions in Astoria. Last time, they ate her sticker, and she STILL talks about it haha! So we started there first..... We couldn't have asked for better weather, it was a gorgeous sunny day! We walked around to the walkway directly next to the docks, which made them within arms reach directly under us! We watched them swim, fight, and play together. So cool! The really long bridge was also awesome and several huge ships were going by the harbor.

We grabbed some lunch and headed over to Seaside afterwards. The beach was packed due to an event. We planned to just walk the beach and so some fun things on the promenade, but Adalynn had other plans in mind.... We finally gave up asking her to stop getting dirty in the sand with her clothes on and let her have at it. She is a serious beach lover and clearly we weren't winning that battle, as she literally ROLLED in the sand and mud with her clothes on. I sat on a log on the beach with Savannah and watched Adalynn splash in the water and her and Jordan chase the waves. I could do that all day! The water was crazy blue and so pretty!

This sure made me giggle.... We had Savannah in long sleeve footie pajamas to walk the beach because the coast is always chilly. Well she was asleep in them when we left. We didn't want her to roast in them in her carseat going back to 90 degree Portland, so we had the cold A/C blasting to the back. No complaints from this daddy! He just nonchalantly put on his jacket and hood, no big deal.... ha ha! He does anything for those girls!

Beach-1 Savannah-0

When the baby is asleep and you have to start dinner....

you move to the toddler couch!

Adalynn giving Savannah a serious check up. It was the cutest thing ever!

Those curls are coming in!!! And I am loving it!!!

Jordan had to work in Spokane/Lewiston again for a few days, but this time we got to go with him! We spent the first few days in Lewiston, went up to Spokane for a few days, and then back down to Lewiston to hang with friends for Labor Day weekend! It was a blast!

Pit stop and ready to hit the road again!

We made it! Little squish was so happy to be out of the car!

Hotel swimming is the best! Actually having matching sister swimsuits is even better!!

Savannah even fell asleep!

Had a little dinner playdate with my friend Jen! Her little girl got stuck up in the toys so her and Adalynn climbed up to get her and then they did a train down the slide.... Easier said than done!

We made it to Spokane! We had quite the fun time! One of those "good for the soul" days that I desperately needed, just the girls and I while Jordan worked. Shopping, good food, lots of playing, carousel ride, icecream, & swimming. We sure didn't leave room for anything else! It was nice to just soak in time with the girls and not worry about having to be anywhere or having the house destroyed. It was so sweet to just embrace all the cute quirky things Adalynn says and even the smeared icecream all over her face. Savannah was all smiles and giggles What a treat it was!

Hobby Lobby!
"Mom, I want to wear this hat just like Uncle Justin!"
ha ha ha

Cafe Rio!!

Daddy had a break in between appointments and joined us on the carousel at Northtown :)

Adalynn played on the toys while Savannah cackled and smiled for me!

Icecream!

I looked over at dinner and about died... Get it girl!

Word to the wise.... Don't do hotel rooms with Adalynn...

"Mom, look at my big muscles!!"
I didn't have the heart to tell her that those were actually her elbows ha!

I glanced up from feeding Savannah and this is the look I got, upside down glasses and all... Too funny!

Traveling is hard work.... Back to Lewiston to have some fun for Labor Day weekend at Jon & Allie's house!

Such a snuggly Saturday morning with my sweet Savannah!

Adalynn was out too!

Adalynn and Oakley had quite the morning of dress up and story telling!

We packed a picnic and some toys and spent the day swimming and playing at the beach on the river!

Adalynn and Oakley fought most of the trip because of their strong willed personalities, but when it came to running in the water together at the same time, they were all for it!

Even Savannah enjoyed the sun and swimming!

LOVE this picture and even more this family of mine!

Happy miss Savannah at church in her cute little watermelon dress!! Full of squeals and smiles, she has quite the little personality!

Topped off our trip with smores in the firepit outside... We sure love the Scott's!

Headed back home! Adalynn was just a little wore out from all the fun :)

We ended up getting detoured on our way home because of a HUGE fire that started while we were gone! They closed the freeway interstate so thank goodness for a random toll bridge that allowed us to travel on the washington side to be able to get home! It was unlike anything I had ever seen before! Pictures don't even come close to capturing it... The sky was literally black in the middle of the day and engulfed in smoke. The gorge was glowing with fire. Several areas had to be evacuated and the freeway was closed for weeks! Our cars 40 minutes away in Vancouver were covered in ash for the next several days... It looked like it was snowing there was so much ash! It burned about 60,000 acres of the gorge. So sad......

That wraps up August!! We sure packed in the fun! Bring on September and welcome Fall!
