Grandma & Papa visit Washington {Sept 2016}

We kicked off September with the best visit from Grandma and Grandpa! They flew up to visit for the long Labor Day weekend :) We were so excited to see them again and we packed so much fun into their visit!

They landed a little early, so we were rushing down by security to meet them as they came through. Adalynn had been talking non stop about seeing them! They didn't even get past security before Adalynn tackled my mom with a giant hug! It was so priceless!!

Adalynn talked their leg off the whole rest of the night, telling them everything and showing them all her toys. Of course they brought several treats for Adalynn and she was thrilled!!

We kicked off the weekend taking them to one our favorite places, the Vancouver Farmers Market!

One of my favorite parts, the gorgeous HUGE bouquets of flowers!

LOVE!!!

Adalynn was all about holding Papa's hand and showing him where to go... also where the park is, her favorite!

After walking the market, we always have some fun playing at the park right next to it.

Adalynn was running my mom and dad around the playground, so Jordan and I took a break for once! We are usually the ones running after her like crazy!

She kept giving him random huge hugs <3 It was the sweetest thing!!

We walked over to the other side of the park so show them the fountains, splash pad, and bell tower :)

Of course, we had to get some yummy lunch from the food stands at the Farmer's Market! It was delish!

We ran home afterwards to grab some shoes for a walk on the greenbelt, and Adalynn decided she needed to sneak in a few stories with Grandma and her stuffed animals :) Love her look of Mom, you're interrupting!

We love walking the greenbelt trail! It is gorgeously green and even has wild blackberries along the path that you can pick and eat :) It is 3 miles each way and we walked about half of it together!

Using his height to get us some ripe ones :)

There is all kinds of cool trees and plants down the trail! My mom was amazed at the size of the oak leaves on the trail. They were HUGE!

We were cracking up, she wouldn't let anyone else hold her, but kept telling Papa that her "legs hurt" so he would carry her. It was hilarious!

Across the stream, there was a pretty bright white crane in the middle of the yellow flower field!

So much fun having Grandpa and Grandma visiting!!

Too bad I didn't have my big camera, just my phone... This spider was GINORMOUS! and his web was so intricate!

Adalynn was thrilled that Grandma was helping her practice her "TA-DAAAA!!'

After so much fun all day long, Adalynn was ZONKED out when it was time for bed! She said goodnight and was gone.....

One of our favorite places we have been since living in Vancouver is the coast! Sunday we took off to the coast for the day starting in Astoria!

We were driving the main road in Astoria and spotted the Wiener Mobile! Of course we had to stop to check it out, take some pics, & get a sticker and whistle!

LOVE my mom and dad!!

Adalynn was so thrilled about her weeny whistle..... and has never stopped blowing it since! ugh

There was a paved greenbelt next to the water where we were, so we took off for a walk. We heard a lot of loud noise coming from down the way and were curious what it was!

From a distance, we saw the harbor and it was COVERED in seals! SO cool!!! They were so loud, you could hear them from way far way. We headed to the Harbor to get a closer look!

They were quite rambunctious with each other, splashing & fighting over dock space. A few were even in the water swimming and splashing.

Boy how I love this little family of mine!

Adalynn was so mesmerized with all the seals making noise!

The sky and clouds in Astoria were gorgeous!! Bluer than blue sky and the clouds were amazing :) The View all around was so pretty!

We loved seeing all the huge cargo ships in the distance going in and out of the harbor.

Such a pretty sight!!

The opposite side was the town of Astoria, and even the school where Kindergarten Cop was filmed!

We finished up in Astoria and headed for Seaside which was only a little ways away :) In one of the little areas in between, we passed this on the side of the road! So awesome! They were oblivious to all the people and cars, just walking around together.

We made it to Seaside! We have had SO much fun here, so we wanted to make sure and take my parents here! First stop, the swings for our princess <3

Running the beach, her favorite.

A sand artist was there building. Super cool to watch!

My mom & I are always the one taking pictures, so it was fun to see Adalynn grab her and go running down the beach together!

Adalynn took advantage of having them here so she could 1,2,3 jump!

Some people by us on the beach got a live crab too!

Of course, we had to hit the carousel while walking the promenade boardwalk! Papa was more than happy to ride with Adalynn. She giggled and laughed the WHOLE ride!

There is all kinds of cute shops and candy shops on the boardwalk. One our favorite shops had cool candy displays!

The BEST icecream!

While we walked up and down the promenade, I couldn't help but notice this cute girl peeking over Jordan's shoulder looking at us. Melt my heart!

Again! Again! 1,2,3!!! All the way to the car!
They couldn't say no ha ha

My FAVORITE thing about the coast is the low tide pools at Haystack Rock! We took off to there even though I was a little bummed that we were a little early for low tide. It ended up being amazing! We saw tons of anemones, crabs, and starfish. It was incredible! All topped off by an amazing sunset! We couldn't have asked for a more amazing day at the coast!!

Orange starfish peaking out from under the shell rock

Another orange starfish nestled under the rock!

Another Orange starfish hanging out :)

We saw a good 8-10 starfish while we were at the tidepools! They were HUGE and so vibrant in color!

Another huge purple starfish in between the rock and water!

Most of the entire rock is made of shells! Hard to see from far away, but up close, it is amazing!!

Close up :)

We ended our day at the coast back in Seaside eating wings & pizza and playing arcades!

Woke up the next morning to these two reading stories in Adalynn's bed and having a cute tea party with her Minnie Kitchen! My heart was melting... The best moms make even better Grandmas!! Adalynn was soaking in every minute with my parents that she could. Forget coming to our room in the morning, she went straight into their room and wanted to play :)

We spent Labor day BBQing & showing them around Vancouver and Portland, We stopped first at a classic car show :)

Grandma's girl by Grandma's favorite car! Seems fitting :)

Probably her favorite part about the show, the little flag they gave her! She waved that thing the ENTIRE time!

We love going to the beach on the Columbia River that separates Portland and Vancouver. We stopped by Wintler Park to walk the water and collect some seashells!

Of course, she wanted to get it and swim. It ended up being a lot warmer than forecasted, so we just let her splash in her clothes! She was thrilled to get to ride home naked afterwards since her clothes were drenched!

My mom was fascinated with how tight Adalynn's curls STILL are! She is such a little curly Sue!

Packing up to fly home and my mom got stuck deflating the air mattress! Ha ha!!

We BBQ'd some yummy tri tip and Adalynn built a tower with Grandma.

Good byes are the worst. Everyone cried as we dropped them off at the airport. Even still, Adalynn walks into the spare room and asks where Grandma and Grandpa went, hoping they will re appear back at her house. Breaks my heart. We can't wait to see them again soon! Long distance is hard! We had the best visit to hold us over till we can see them again...

Till Next time.....
We love you Grandma & Grandpa!!!
