Ahhh we finally made it to July!!! We all anticipated our trip to California forEVER it felt like! But sure enought, it creeped up and then flew by! Smiling is an understatement as I go back through all our pictures :)
The day before Jordan left in the car, Adalynn and I took a quick little roadtrip to Twin Falls. I needed my highlights touched up again and Grandma Morrow was more than happy to get her Adalynn fix while I was at my appointment for a few hours! Adalynn is quite the little bookworm and was a champ in the car just reading away with her favorite book!
I also snuck in some cute nails with a friend of mine before heading home! We are officially vacation ready :)
After being in Twin Falls for the day, we came to daddy mowing the lawn. I couldn't help but snap a picture. She loves to look out the window and watch him mow. I had a bit of a mushy moment just watching. So many dreams now a reality! A hardworking husband, a precious little girl, and beautiful home of our own to take care of <3
So as far as traveling goes, we did things a little differently and it worked out great! We wanted to be able to bring beach toys for Adalynn as well as all her travel essentials and still have a car to go everywhere in California. SO.... Jordan took one for the team and drove the 13 hours in the car while Adalynn and I flew into LA. She is good in the car, but I wasn't ready just yet for a 13 hour ride in the car with her! I was worried enough for the 2 hour plane ride beings she won't even sit still in Sacrament Meeting! Jordan drove to Vegas and hung out with a buddy and then picked us up at the airport the next day in LA.
It was sure quiet Thursday night with Jordan gone. We passed the time and anticipation just playing in the driveway with her cozy coupe car!
Friday came and I had everything down to a precise schedule as far as getting ready and holding off on naps to make sure she would sleep on the plane! We spent all day doing all sorts of things to wear her out like tons of playing, eating lunch at Artic Circle, and playing in the bath before we left for the airport!
By the time we were ready to leave for the airport, she was so tired, and this was the absolute best smile I could get out of her! This little girl is ready to fly for the first time!
I managed to sneak in some time to get ready too :) Hey, curled hair for a mommy is kind of a big deal!
We finally made it through security at the Boise Airport, as the TSA agents removed everything from Adalynn's strategically packed diaper bag and then left it in a big pile for me to put back together WHILE trying to keep track of a 1 year old by myself.... yeah I was thrilled!
We found our gate and Adalynn stared out the window just watching the planes and pointing and squealing :)
"uh oh... Am I too big to carry on mommy?!"
She played in the display and found all the overhead speaking cords to pull off and press. Who knew that the airport was such a wonderland!
I tell you what, flying with a toddler is not for the weak! She did so well, but was just so busy! She finally fell asleep and did great. Our flight wasn't so great however.... The air conditioning was broke, so everyone on our flight was dripping in sweat! It was miserable. I was so thrilled that Adalynn was sleeping, until she woke up after an hour because she was hot and drenched in sweat. Poor girl! She handled it like a champ though and we were more than excited to be picked up by daddy at the LAX airport!
Our first stop after we landed was of course, In and Out Burger! After a miserable flight and it being 10pm at night, that yummy burger was absolutely delicious! I thought Adalynn would be so tired after the flight and hour drive to Simi Valley, but she was on her second wind and ready to go! Once we got to Barbara and Jack's house, we all crashed hard :)
I wish I would have taken a few pictures of our outing the next day before all our 4th of July shenanigans, but oh well! The next day (the 4th of July), Adalynn went down for her nap and Jordan and I were able to sneak away for a little lunch outing! Time alone and being able to eat your food hot is priceless with a toddler! We enjoyed lunch at TGI Fridays and then Jordan dropped a major surprise... Our anniversary was on the 7th, but beings that we had some alone time, he walked me over to the Verizon store and told me that he was getting me the new LG G4 phone that had only been out a couple weeks! I was shocked and ecstatic! With him knowing how much I love to take pictures, but can't always lug around my big professional camera, he wanted to get this phone for me because the camera on it does everything that my big camera does! I was like a little school girl as the guy told me all the cool things it did and I tried out shooting in manual... ON A PHONE! How cool is that??!! Unless you shoot photography, you probably won't get what "manual" shooting is, but it is crazy cool to be able to do that on a phone! And to think that this was one day ONE of our vacation! ha ha
We came back to Jack and Barbara's house for a BBQ get together for the 4th and fireworks! Their niece was over and has a little boy Adalynn's age named Keegan. They are even the same size! Adalynn must have been so overly excited to be in California that she walked right up to him and laid one on him! Because after all, nothing screams America like kissing a boy! <3 <3
Just hammin' it up at the BBQ
Ready to go watch the fireworks with her little festive outfit! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!
<3 Our little family <3
We were curious how Adalynn would do with the loud fireworks, but she snuggled in Jordan's arms and just watched intently as they went off!
The show went on for about 25 minutes! Towards the end it started to lull her to sleep. So cute!
Our whole group :)
On Sunday, we headed to Balboa Pier to see some friends! Jordan and Bobby have been best friends for a long time and every time we are in California, we make sure to catch up with them! They are both now married with a kiddo so were were excited to meet up and hang out!
Adalynn's first ferry ride! She was fascinated by the water and boat :)
Bobby, Natalie, and Luke :)
We had lunch at a popular Macaroni place and it was yummy!
Luke is about 6 months younger than Adalynn so he wasn't too sure what to think of her lol She thought he was cute and hilarous though!
We walked the shops and went to the playground by Balboa Beach to swing!
Best Friends and their babies
Adalynn got this Mickey Mouse Watering can for her birthday and has been dying to use it, so I pulled it out of the car beings that we were next to the beach. She was so excited!
Daddy filled it up at the shower station and showered her a little
After being wet from her watering can and dying to explore sand for the first time, she wet faceplanted in the sand right as we were leaving! No tears, just shock wondering what that sand stuff was ha ha
Ohhh yeah ALL over her face and legs! Wooops!!
All that sand and play with her boyfriend wore her out! She was snoring on the way home!
You would never know she wasn't in her own bed.... she still sleeps like a champ when we are out of town!
Uncle Jack found their old car and hosed it off so Adalynn could play in it! Every morning she would go out on the patio with Uncle Jack and play in the car :)
Fun in the tub. She cracks me up! Brought her bath fishy all the way from Idaho :)
Out again, too much fun!!
Monday we headed to Ventura and walked the fun little shops downtown! Adalynn was happy just soaking up the sun in the stroller and snacking on crackers :)
Of course this little water girl had to stop and check out the fountain!
This just completely makes my heart explode <3 <3 <3
After checking out the shops in downtown, we headed down to the Ventura Harbor! It was so pretty with so many gorgeous red flowers!
At the harbor, there was an arcade center with a carousel! Since Adalynn has never been on one, we let her take a spin with Dad. At first she didn't know what to think of it and then we couldn't get her off! She loved it!
Just the 3 of us <3
A little silliness is a must :) Her face cracks me up!
Jordan, Jack, and Baby A
All smiles from this cute girl!
SO much fun all day and zonked the minute we left the Harbor!
After a fun filled day and some yummy dinner at the Lazy Dog, we decided to stop at the Thousand Oaks Mall. It was so awesome! Half indoor, half outdoor with fire pits and outdoor games! They also had a super awesome play place for the kids. Adalynn must have played in there for an hour! She climbed and slid down like crazy :)
Her first ride! She for sure knew how to work the steering wheel complete with sounds! lol
Tuesday was our anniversary and we spent it totally low key! We check into our hotel in Huntington Beach, ate lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings, and then decided to go to the beach for a few hours. We had plans to go to the beach the next day, but wanted some time with just our little family to show Adalynn the ocean and play in the sand. It was such a blast!! Tons and tons of pictures to remember! Yes I was that crazy mom at the beach, running around snapping a million pictures...
Her first look at the ocean.... "Ooooo what is that?!!"
She LOVED the water! She would run right out the waves with no fear. If you happened to be there to hold her hand when the waves splashed on her, she might just reach up and hold it, otherwise, she was miss independent!
This is Jordan's old stomping grounds so of course daddy showed her the ropes :)
This sums up our few hours at the beach on Tuesday!
One of my favorite beach pictures of her! Just in awe of the waves with her bucket and shovel in tow :)
She was obsessed with pointing at and chasing the seagulls!
She knows just how cute she is... she put her glasses on and strutted the beach with a sassy little walk! I was cracking up!!
Such a beautiful cute little girl to call ours!
Ok about the sand.... She couldn't get enough! She rolled in it, threw it, ATE it, played in it... you name it, she probably did it!
Notice all the sand around her mouth.... YUM!
Jordan was trying to lay out and she kept randomly crawling over and giving him big wet kisses!
KISS daddy!
OH melt my heart... THAT smile.... THAT girl.... THAT sandy face!
After our few hours at the beach having fun, we topped off the night walking the streets for Surf Days and having our anniversary dinner at Luigis. Day well spent!
The next day, Wednesday, was our official "beach day." Barbara, Jack, Sherre, and the girls met up with us at Huntington Beach and we played hard all day! Cue for Round 2 of beach pictures!
Started the day with overcast, but the sun came right out!
Jack, Barbara, and Sherre's tent :)

Love this little fishy!
Taken out by a huge wave and sand!
The aftermath of the above wave... Seriously can she get any cute even with sand all over her face? No matter how many waves took her out, she never cried once! And always a smile with the tongue to boot :)
Seriously like I said, she loved the sand so much, she literally ROLLED in it!
Ohhh these 2 have my heart <3
I couldn't stop laughing at these! Her face was all wet and she faceplanted in the sand while playing... And she just laughed and kept on playing! No big deal! ha ha!! If you look close, it is literally covering her whole face and forehead!
STILL all over her face! I'm dyin!!
Adalynn took an afternoon nap under our canopy shade, so these crazies all went boogie boarding together, Jordan's favorite!
Yep he's mine....
All tuckered out for a mid-afternoon snooze!
Under the pier :) Our crazy little family of 3!
The trip wouldn't be complete without Jordan trying to throw someone in the ocean... Sherre was the lucky one!
The sand was so much more fun with her Mickey Mouse Watering can!
Our little beach bum <3
Till next time Huntington Beach!! It was a blast!
With crazy appetites from playing at the beach all day, we at some dinner at Chili's. YUM!
Our time in California FLEW by and we spent our last day in Santa Monica at the pier :) We ate some yummy pier food, rode the ferris wheel for Adalynn's FIRST time, and met up with some great friends!
Waiting in line for the ferris wheel. She was so excited and kept pointing to all the hanging baskets up high!
My favorite people!
She was so fascinated at looking down and around once we got way up high <3
The up high view of the pier
Santa Monica Beach!
Can't forget some silly ferris wheel selfies!
After, we met up with Jordan's best friend Anthony and his family. We found a cool historical carousel at the pier too so of course, we all had to take a ride!
Anthony & Jordan, Best friends since grade school!
Anthony's fiance and their little boy!
Brothers at heart! Always fun to stay in touch with great friends!
After spending the day in Santa Monica, we drove out to Murietta to see Jordan's Aunt and Uncle Remund! They had never met Adalynn so it was a lot of fun to BBQ and chat :)
Well that was our week in a nutshell and even though we had so much fun, we were ready to head back home! Jordan dropped us off at the airport and started his drive home.
She was a bit excited to get back on the plane, but first, she tried to steal another baby's ziploc bag of treats and said hi to every traveler in LAX. That's our social butterfly!
Watching our plane get fueled :)
Our return flight was uneventful thank goodness and Adalynn stayed awake the whole time, which was a ride in itself for me to entertain her :)
So long Cali! Thanks for the memories!
Love,
Jordan & Elise
