Adjusting to {TWO} kids & a ride we {WEREN'T} expecting......{JUNE 2017}

June. Ohhh man June! What a month! My mind is spinning just thinking about everything to blog for June. On top of everything going on, it has been such a transition from one child to now two! Speaking of transition.. I am blogging this wonderful post at almost 1am, so that is another adjustment... Never enough time to get stuff done! ugh!

Ok here we go.... Hang on! It's gonna be a lengthy post! And P.S. be patient with all my Savannah documenting... We kinda love her ALOT <3

Adalynn is totally obsessed with her new sister and I love to watch her interact with Savannah! It is the cuuuutest :) I got to bed still hearing in my head Adalynn saying, "Hiiiiiiiiii Sabannahhh!"

National Donut Day, fun park play, and bike riding with friends!

Savannah's first bath! No tears and she loved it!

Is this real life?! Sure feeling blessed! Aaaaand actually getting a shower helped ;)

All stretched out!

"What mom?! You don't like it when I blow out 3 times in 2 days??! Serious little pooper!

Sweet morning giggles <3

Even though we have officially lived here a year already, we are still exploring fun new places near us in the PNW! We had so much fun tonight taking a picnic to Lewisville Park, playing in the river, and even skipping rocks. We totally got eaten alive by mosquitoes, but we had so much fun together! Definitely a new favorite Summer spot!

Oh this girl is such a snuggler that always has to be held! Hard to pack for our trip to Twin Falls with one arm! How can I resist that cuteness though?!

2 weeks old and on her first road trip! Headed to Twin Falls for Kerin's wedding!

We finally got to Twin Falls at about 330am! We were all completely exhausted! Jordan left only a few hours later to go rafting with Jurgen for his bachelor party. He was kind enough to snap this gem on his way out. Nothing like an honest to goodness raw mom moment sleeping on the couch after a middle of the night feeding.... and too tired to even take the binki out first!

"But Mom! I'm not tired!!" 5 min later.....

Meeting Uncle Eric! Savannah sure made the rounds meeting lots of family.

Adalynn always loves playing with Grandma Rita's "rocks" and boy she never forgets! We went to see her and before saying hi OR giving her a hug, she marched right over and said, "Grandma, where's your rocks?!" ha ha!

We went to see Great Gma and Gmpa Dutry yesterday! When I was a little girl, my favorite thing to do when we visited them in Idaho was to help Grandpa Frenchy feed the fish in the fish pond! So surreal to now see Adalynn doing it! He showed her how to stomp her feet to make them come over and then throw and spread the food. That smile couldn't get any bigger!!
We also went to see my Grandma and Grandpa Rice :)

Love family!!

Here is where our Twin Falls Trip took a turn for the worst and was more awful than we could have ever imagined..... We came down for Jordan's sister, Kerin's wedding. We were already nervous about the long drive with a new baby and all that comes with traveling with a newborn. The day we left, Savannah showed signs of a blocked tear duct by having some goop in her eyes and a bit of a bruised bump on the inside corner. We were told that it would fix itself on its own and to massage the bump to get her tear duct to open. Our 2nd night in Twin Falls, Savannah spent the entire night screaming crying. Jordan and I were beside ourselves as to what was wrong. We thought she had a huge bubble in her belly or gas. We were up the entire night with her, tag teaming trying to calm her down. This was very unusual for her and we didn't know what to do. We even switched her formula in the morning, hoping to settle her stomach. The next morning we were trying to figure out whether to take her in or what. Because of her crying all night long, it caused irritation in her blocked tear duct and made her eye swell up very large and bruise even worse. I attempted to give her a bath and she was incredibly lethargic. She felt very warm and wouldn't even open her eyes. She LOVES baths so at that point, we packed her up in the car and headed to the ER.

What a heartbreaking day to be a parent.... She arrived at the ER with a rectal temp of 101.2, already way above the danger zone of a newborn which is 100.4. She was totally out of it and exhausted from all the tests and blood draws trying to figure out what was wrong. Because of her super high temperature, the ER dr. was very concerned she could have spinal meningitis. Testing for that required a spinal tap and cultures being grown over 48 hours. I think I completely ran out of tears that day. SO hard to see your baby going through so much and not being able to do anything.

She ended up being admitted up to pediatrics in the hospital and we were scheduled to stay the weekend as we waited for all her cultures to come back, she was monitored, and as her staph eye infection was treated with IV antibiotics. Adalynn stayed with my parents and Jordan ran all over running her to the dress rehearsal to be the flower girl, bringing us food, and making sure we were taken care of.

She was such a fighter! It was heartbreaking to see her hooked up to so many cords and having to maneuver them all just to hold and snuggle her! Such a cutie <3

We were the best snuggle buds the whole time she was in there! Her eye was improving and we were thrilled to see her a little happier, while keeping our fingers crossed for good news from her tests!

Her eye looking a whole lot better! Still such a happy little squish!

We were able to sneak away long enough for the wedding Saturday night while my mom stayed with Savannah at the hospital. It was such a beautiful wedding and Adalynn rocked being a flower girl!
** See the next post for all the details and pictures from the wedding!**

The next day we were thrilled to be discharged! We hung out with family the rest of the day before heading home the next day.

Sunday snoozin' with Papa <3

It was a bummer to not be able to see any of the family that traveled to Twin for the wedding! Barbara, Jack, & Sherre were still in town, so we headed over to Jordan's mom's house and visited with the them the rest of the night. Sherre had no problem soaking in some snuggles from Savannah!

Headed home finally! Wide awake and happy girl!

She didn't last long and was out!

Jordan snapped this of all us girls down for the count! The car ride home was ridiculously long and miserable, but we were SO happy to be home!

Savannah snuggled right in and I was thrilled to be able to cuddle her without any cords!!

Bathtime!

The next day after we got back, Jordan had to head to the Seattle area for work, so we took advantage of his hotel room and met him up there! We swam, ate yummy food, and relaxed.

I snuck away to Hobby Lobby with this chicka while Jordan played at the hotel with Adalynn and went swimming again :)

Holding Savannah is Adalynn's favorite!

Snuggle sesh with Daddy <3

Rockin' the mom life making dinner one handed :)

Her bobble head is the cutest!

Sister matching has begun! Even their jellies! I can't even handle the cuteness!!

Saving some milk for later ha ha!!

Happy Father's Day! We took a picnic by the river and just enjoyed being together with our favorite guy <3

Sleepy snuggles <3 Heaven on Earth!

Jordan had to head up to Seattle for work for 3 days, so the girls and I had fun at home. Adalynn loved doing chalk outside and playing hopscotch!

She loves walking the neighborhood riding her trike. The ants out here are HUGE. Like really big! She happened to see one and was determined to run it over with her trike ha ha!!

She had her hospital follow up check and is doing great! She weighed a dense 10 lbs 10 oz!

Best buds already :) Headed for a fun shopping trip and Chick-fil-a.

Adalynn got picked to go back into the kitchen and make her own icecream cone! She was so excited and even got a cherry on top.

Savannah chilled in her seat. How cute is she??!

Soaking in the snuggles!

Helping mommy make breakfast is HARD work!!

Adalynn still LOVES the bath and always has to have tons of friends in there with her!

With Jordan still being gone in Seattle, Adalynn had to send him pictures of her outfit every morning. She normally has to go show him every morning after she gets dressed and he always tells her how pretty she is! They have the cutest bond.

And we sent him pictures of her all dressed too because well, she is just as adorable :)

Finally he is home and his lap was FULL of girls!

Savannah pic overload... I just love her!

We were watching the NBA draft and apparently Savannah wasn't impressed! ha ha

The transition to two kids has been a little rougher than we anticipated. I finally went grocery shopping and this picture says it all! Grocery shopping with a cranky threenager, no meal plan, and an energy drink.... Yep we are just in survival mode at this point!

Oh these two! Snoozin' in our bed <3

Adalynn had severe acid reflux when she was a baby. We lived at the doctor's office the first 4 months of her life and had to have sooo many tests done to ultimately put her on special formula and medicine to help the pain. We have walked on eggshells hoping that Savannah wouldn't have the same thing. She was doing fine and all of a sudden, the symptoms surfaced and she was miserable. I slept in the nursery glider with her to relieve some of the pain so she could get some rest.

Poor girl!

Library Shenanigans reading books... Reading and feeding ha ha

Our sweet Savannah is ONE month old! She is in the 94th percentile weighing in at 11 lbs 6 oz and is 21 inches long. Total chubster with new rolls everyday! She loves baths, eating, looking around, snuggling, being held, and being sung to. See all the details and more 1 month pictures in a future post!!

The moment when you realize you have to start off your Friday at the Doctor's office.... Savannah's reflux continued to get worse and worse, so we headed in for meds and opted for a formula change in hopes of calming down her fussiness and pain :(

Warm weather on the coast, so we took a daytrip with friends to Seaside! The weather was around 100 which is unheard of for the beach! We bit off a little more than we could chew with a newborn in hot weather, but we had fun in the sand, ate some icecream, and ended the night with Spaghetti Factory!

First week at church :)

We love taking walks at night around our neighborhood. Adalynn has to stop occasionally to say hi to Savannah :)

She is a stomach sleeper like her mom and sister! Still obsessed with sleeping pictures just like Adalynn :)

Daddy reads bedtime stories the best!!

No one can get her to smile like daddy can! All smiles before Jordan went to work. BOTH girls have quite the soft spot for their dad!

Adalynn was so excited about her new Peppa Pig underwear, she had to hold it the whole ride home!

The Hemmerts came through Vancouver and stopped for a visit! Dinner, toys, visiting, and popsicles :)

Strawberry Picking with friends!

SO thankful for sweet moments like this that remind me that even though the mom life is incredibly hard some days, it is oh so worth it. I've had my fair share of mommy melt downs as we are figuring out our new "normal" with 2 kiddos. Jordan is always so sweet to wipe the tears, hold me, give me the "you're superwoman" pep talk, and snag me a big DP at Arco. I sure got a good one. He picks up the pieces with a Savannah snuggle and a trip to Adalynn's Minnie Kitchen while somehow still fitting in housework and his job. One of my most favorite things is watching him be a Dad. These girls are my heart and soul. Love this tribe of mine.

Adalynn wants to hold Savannah constantly! She is one loved little lady!

With her reflux, we have waited SO long for a happy girl! My heart is exploding!

That moment when you look in the mirror to see if your Summer bod is ready...... ha ha!!

Her favorite spot on daddy, his big warm flat chest!

Whew what a month! July, here we come! Only a few weeks till vacation!!
