Our adventures with Puppy Martitz

Our house had quite the adventure this last week! Jordan and I had talked slightly about maybe getting a dog in the future, but not while we were fresh newlyweds enjoying each other. You can see where this story is going huh? haha well this is only the beginning!

Last Saturday, we were headed to Walmart to get some food for a BBQ with some friends. As we were pulling up, there was a classic redneck sitting on the corner of the concrete sidewalk. While I was too busy pointing out that her well endowed chest was about to explode out of her tube top, Jordan happened to notice that she was selling puppies. I quickly got all excited and we stopped and looked at them :) They were  6 week old short haired mini chihuahuas and there were 2 little guys in a box. We fell in love with the cuties!!! The lady explained that she was from out of town visiting and her car broke down and she couldn't leave till she sold the puppies so she could get it fixed to go home. Normally I would call bull to a story like that, BUT her car was sitting behind her, was leaking everywhere, and was ANCIENT! She obviously wasn't the most responsible owner either as we noticed she was feeding 6 week old puppies Walmart beef jerky for food! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!  She was selling each purebred pup for $200. Jordan could tell I was giving him "the look" big time. We went inside to shop and told the lady we might be back.

After finishing our shopping, we drove back by the lady and sat from a distance while talking over the opportunity. Everyone knows what happens when you want something really bad. You make things sound soooo much better than they really will be and make promises you don't really mean :) This is exactly how it went down. Jordan thought they were really cute, but didn't want to deal with the hassle right now or dish out $200 for a puppy. I was smitten over how cute they were and gave every excuse why we would love a puppy and how he was perfect! Jordan gave in and said he would offer the lady the cash he had in his wallet ($100) and if she didn't agree, then we were heading home with no dog. I was already taking bets that she would say no, but I agreed.

We walk up and of course I grab the one that stole my heart. Jordan offered her the money and without hesitation, she said she would take it! I was like OH MY GOSH! Part of me was happy and part of me was like holy crap what did we just get ourselves into!

She began telling us his birthday and information to get him shots....AND THEN! She starts going into detail about how not to feed him pork because the dad is allergic to it so he might be. WHAT THE????? WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU BE FEEDING A 6 WEEK OLD PUPPY TABLE FOOD?! Seriously this woman was missing the french fries to her happy meal! But I was happy that we were getting him out of her wrath and into a good home. From there on out I referred to his adoption as a "rescue" because technically it was!
Here are some pics of the little guy :) :)

Driving home :)
We brought him home and not 20 min later, Jordan was holding him on the couch and peed all over his favorite shirt. Jordan was less than thrilled. The first night was rough. We didn't sleep whatsoever! He whined louder than any dog I have ever heard in my life!!! without letting up at all! 2 hours after listening to the loudest yelps EVER, we gave in to letting him sleep in our bed so we could gain at least a smidgen of sleep! Then he wanted to play and bite! Needless to say the first 2 days and nights were super rough. No sleep, peeing & pooping everywhere, couldn't get anything done unless he was sleeping, and constant teething! Yes all of this was expected, but I don't think I thought it would be that bad. IT WAS! After a few days, we decided that were weren't home enough to give him the attention he needed to play and potty train. We ended up putting an ad up to give him another home and a very nice lady came to get him after we had had him for 4 days.

I admit I cried. The first 2 days were rough, but the next 2 days were much better and I bonded with that little guy. He had that yummy puppy breath and kisses and was so playful. I had fun cuddling with him and him napping on my chest. He definitely nestled right into my heart even after just 4 days. Jordan enjoyed him too at times, but we both admitted that it just wasn't the right time. We are still fresh newlyweds and frankly weren't willing to share our bed with a dog that is smaller than Jordan's size 14 shoe. I miss hanging out with him during the day, but I am relieved to get back to my regular sleeping and house schedule!

Here are a few pics I snapped during our short time together!

Sad to see him go, but glad he is in a better place and away from the crazy Walmart parking lot :)

Whew that was a long story I know! My bad. Just couldn't leave out any details! ha ha

One more small bit of news this week.... I have my 2nd interview at Wells Fargo tomorrow!! Glad to finally be getting some prospects! Wish me luck!

We have a fun date night planned with some friends tomorrow :) Can't wait!

Night;)
