A {JAM PACKED} February and {ALL THINGS} Baby

February was sure the month of {LOVE} between friends, trips, and all things baby!

Superbowl weekend was a bunch of fun! We had a few other couples over to watch the game and stuff our face :) We were rooting Denver and as we all know, they didn't exactly "show up" to the game haha! But we still had a lot of fun, played with the kids, and just hung out.

The boys had their own "after show" and had quite the wrestling match in the living room! yes even the "big" boys were all up in the action :)
Everyone just chillin for the game!
Oakley and I had the right idea about the game, all snuggled up in the recliner relaxing!

Jordan continued to be really sick after getting home from vacation and ended up relapsing. LUCKY him! He continued to be miserable and had one more round of meds and lived on a prayer to get better. Things started looking up just in time for his on call weekend in Early February :) He was feeling on the up and up enough to even take a pic! Guess he decided he wanted the "pants" back in our relationship and I have to admit that it was nice to have a husband again!

As many of you know, Jordan is pretty much a laugh a minute. ALL. THE. TIME.
Never a dull moment in the Martitz house! One night I had made a yummy New York Strip Steak dinner complete with steak fries and green salad. YUM right?! Well apparently I forgot the side of Mac N Cheese to complete the meal ha ha He begged to make some easy mac with his dinner. I was laughing so hard I just had to snap a pic of him with his proud Mac N Cheese and dinner. Good thing he keeps me on my toes!!

Valentine's Day came and went, but we had a great time celebrating just the two of us. In the beginning, we had an out of town trip planned with lots of fun things, but the more we thought about it, the more we decided to just spend it at home together. With so many things coming up in the next little while, we sure love to savor just "us" time. Jordan woke up to heart pancakes in bed and even a valentine from the baby! We didn't do gifts or any fancy dinner, but enjoyed a night at home with a movie rented, the futon mattress in the living room, take out BBQ, midnight pizza, and just us. I LOVED it! Soon enough it won't be just us and it was a simple romantic night. Unfortunately, just after getting better, Jordan seemed to get food poisoning from the BBQ place we got take out from and spent the next 2 days throwing up non-stop. Gah we can't seem to catch a break!

Ok so here is the point where I take over the blog post to report all things baby! And there is a lot :) So if you are sick of hearing me ramble on about our sweet little girl and all the things pregnancy brings, here is where you should turn back!

Ok so since winters in Lewiston are pretty freakin boring, all this baby mumbo jumbo has kept me busy busy so that I haven't noticed the crappy weather or lack of trips home to Twin. The first week in February, Jordan ended up on call unexpectedly in Spokane and so we capitalized on the situation :) That weekend I was officially 7 months along and we ended up celebrating by FINALLY buying the baby bedroom furniture!!! and I have to say, I LOVE it!!! Can't wait to get it here and all put together. I had to say though, baby furniture is stinkin expensive!!!  I can't tell you how many sketches I have done to plan the room and there IS a light at the end of the tunnel :)

THIS CRIB... man where do I start?! I LOVE this crib! It sits way up higher than most cribs which is awesome and Jordan loved it too since he is way taller and wasn't fond of diving down to get the baby out. It was pretty spendy, and we contemplated going with a similar one that was a little cheaper, but in the end we decided to stick with this one after scoring a great deal! We also got a big 6 drawer dresser to match :)

Ok so this is the closest picture I could find that shows the chair we got :) At first we had a simple rocking chair and after sitting in it and thinking about it, I just wasn't sold on that idea and it was super uncomfortable! I had seen this chair several times where we got the crib and fell in love with it!! It is chocolate brown microfiber and sooooooo comfy!!! It glides and rocks and swivels...and is pretty much amazing. It took some convincing for Jordan, but since I will be the one up during the wee hours of the morning breastfeeding, I was getting a comfy chair dangit! I had a fight a little for it, but in the end, Jordan agreed and spoiled me with adding the chair to the shopping trip!

I was so graciously welcomed into the 3rd trimester with the glucose test.... YUCK!! As far as the actual drink goes, it wasn't too bad the first few sips and then the rest just tasted like liquid fruit punch acid going down my throat. Not the most pleasant thing, but really not too bad compared to everything else pregnancy brings. My test was early in the morning which probably wasn't the brightest idea. After drinking the drink, I had my routine Dr's apt and then waited downstairs to get my blood draw once the hour was up. About 45 min into it, I started getting light headed, dizzy, tingly fingers, nauseous, and the room started spinning and blacking out. YIKES!! It was the worst feeling ever! Thanks to a morning appointment and nothing to eat for breakfast, the 50 gram glucose drink sent me into sugar shock. I immediately had to lay down in a back room to avoid throwing up or passing out. Not fun! So glad I ended up passing the test because after that, I couldn't have handled the 3 hour extended test! Welcome to the 3rd trimester!!

I have to admit that within the last few weeks, it has been a feat to just get ready in the morning let alone do anything fancy like curl my hair or anything like that. I have been hard at work trying to do some hiring and train someone for my maternity leave, so that required a little more put togetherness than usual :) Our dentist is only in the office a few days a week right now, so that gives me a break the other few days when it is just me in the office. I was feeling pretty lively one morning and actually went all out, curls and all. Whew! Long day, but at least I felt somewhat cute at 7 months along.... and those days are few and far between lately!

As if my hair wasn't curly enough, all the added hormones from baby girl are sure sending my hair haywire! It literally looks like I stuck my finger in a light socket some days :) Curls everywhere!!

Soooo many projects in full swing in preparation for little missy to arrive! I dove into the "bow scene" recently and I'm thinking she is good to go for a long while! I painted some old barnwood frames, added some chicken wire to the back, and wha laaa! Super cute shabby chic bow boards for the room :)

It has been Christmas in the mail these past few weeks! Always something fun arriving in preparation for baby!

Super cute car seat cover to match her car seat! LOVE the mink on the back too :) Oh and did I mention that I got an oober good deal on this too?! Man I love good deals!

After headache after headache over the stinkin bedding for her room, things finally came together and several pieces have arrived! Her room colors will be primarily turquoise and hot pink with accents of lime green and orange. I cannot wait to put it all together along with all the décor I have been collecting for the past several months! Jordan jokes around that with all the money I have spent on the room, it should be featured on million dollar cribs. ha ha Eeeeekkkk pictures to come soon :)

As of now, I am a little over 30 weeks and feeling the pressure of the home stretch! Physically the 3rd trimester issues are setting in complete with swollen feet, rock hard heavy stomach, not fitting into anything, leg cramps, acid reflux in the throat, tiredness, and having a hard time getting comfortable in general.... Oh and let's not forget the sight of me getting up from sitting/laying down. Yeah we just won't talk about that. It is quite the sight! I used to laugh at my mom when she would cross her legs when she laughed, sneezed or coughed.... Yeah that is soooooo not funny anymore! Baby is resting quite heavily on my pelvic bone which has resulted in extra waddling lately :)

I tried to be extra cute the other day and wear some heels to work.... Yeah that wasn't such a good idea! My feet looked like sausages by mid afternoon and were spewing out of my shoes. HOT huh?!

Swollen feet are becoming more and more regular now, especially at night, but I try to keep them up and Jordan rubs my feet with lotion to help. And that is HEAVEN!!

Just a quick snapshot from this past weekend in Spokane documenting the 30 week mark! I'm feeling HUGE so notice that this pic doesn't include my boulder belly! Oooops :)

While in Spokane this past weekend, we got our last and FINAL peek at baby girl!! She has been close to impossible to get good 3D pictures of due to my placenta being positioned on the front of my stomach instead of the side. I was super excited to see her and she ended up putting on quite the show for us! Right off the bat she grinned from ear to ear and we saw her chubby cheeks and her cheeky grin! So in love already! She smiled all throughout the session AND we even got to see her yawn and have the hiccups! Here are a few shots :)

Went to our routine Doctor's appointment today and snapped this shot of Jordan checking out the baby mags....I tell you what, he has been such a trooper! He has been at every single doctor's appointment, ultrasound, lab test, blood draw, and shots! Not to mention been super supportive throughout the whole process including going crazy on baby shopping. LOVE him!! He is going to be such a good dad :)
The other night I was complaining to Jordan asking why everything I liked was so dang expensive! He was like "Well babe, you have champagne taste on a koolaid checkbook!" I was dying laughing. He always knows just how to lighten the mood and make me laugh.

Anyways, I am in full swing of trimester number 3 and it is hard to believe that there is only 10 weeks left before we get to meet our sweet girl!! That is becoming more and more real the more uncomfortable I get. Nights are rough for sure..... not being able to get comfortable, up every couple hours to go to the bathroom, achy legs, and an overly active baby! It never fails, every night around 12, right when we lay down for bed, she is doing flips and gymnastics in my belly. It takes a while to fall asleep and then she is back up and at 'em by 7am. Anyone who knows me knows that I would sleep in till 10 if you let me, but now, I am up pretty early every day thanks to the baby. Guess she is just getting me prepared right?! Jordan used to laugh at me when I would tell him about both times, her being so active, so I had him feel at 12 and then again at 7. He now understands :) ha ha! He felt her entire body roll across my stomach several times as well as her crazy kicks and hiccups that you can see my whole belly move on the outside! Silly girl!

We are headed to Twin Falls this next weekend for my baby shower and I am so excited! It will be our last trip to Twin Falls before the baby is born. Looking forward to seeing everyone and gearing up for all the things a new baby needs :)

Jordan and Elise

The Many adventures of {{January 2014}}

Hard to believe that January has already come and went! Time sure is flying with all the many adventures we have had :) Let's start back with the beginning of January to play catch up!

Ok let's start out with a pregnancy update :) Early in January we got a bit of a scare with our little girl. I woke up in the middle of the night with some pretty severe cramping and hadn't had that happen since the beginning of my pregnancy. It was a concern then, but eventually went away and has stayed away for quite a while so the return was a little scary! I contacted my doctor and he was very concerned about preterm labor or stress on the baby. We went in to make sure all was well and had an ultrasound and some tests done. Much to our relief, little princess was doing just fine and they couldn't find anything wrong after a long afternoon of measurements and pictures.

Here is her little profile shot from the beginning of January :)

And here is her token "piggy" shot! She is hesitant to show us much else, but when it comes to her feet, she flashes them proudly!

I think we might need a bigger fridge! Our wall of fame is taking over :)

I haven't had very many intense cravings lately, but not too long ago, Jordan got the wrath one night haha It was about 1 in the morning and I was craving a crunchy taco from Taco Bell sooooo bad!! It was intense! Him being the sweetheart of a husband that he is, went out in the freezing cold at 1 am and came back with crunchy tacos. What a guy! Good thing that has only happened once :) Other cravings that I have loved to eat throughout my pregnancy include salad, chicken strips, cutie oranges (like 4 at a time), pickles, and of course, Dr. Pepper. One thing I haven't been able to eat during the pregnancy is ICECREAM. Who knew??! It is so sad.. I LOVE icecream and it doesn't love me at all! It ends with a severe stomach ache and just feeling extremely sick. Good thing she is worth it!
Here is a belly shot at 24 weeks:)
Around that time, she was measuring about 12 inches long and about 1.5 pounds!

I have a goal to finish scrapbooking our wedding and honeymoon before our little girl arrives... We'll see how that exactly works out, but I am going for it! Was so excited to get out my "battle station" the other night and scrapbook for a few days :) Just had to take a picture!

Lewiston seemed to heat up a bit for a several days in January and it was heaven!! Nothing beats a sunny drive with the sunroof open. We even were able to spend a little time outside enjoying the sunshine! That quickly turned back to cold and fog, but we enjoyed it while we could!

The weekend before we left for California, Jordan was on call in Spokane and we had an appointment for a 3D ultrasound while we were there! I was so excited, I could hardly stand it! A few days before though, Jordan started getting really sick. We ended up starting the weekend off with a trip to the Dr., which if you know Jordan, him actually going to the Doctor is a BIG deal! He wanted to make sure it wasn't strep though or something serious that could be passed to me or baby. He had pretty severe coughing, congesting, sore throat, and mucus. The doctor told him it was a virus and that it had to run its course. Awesome! He sent us away with a nice big list of over the counter medicines. Gotta love Idaho Doctors and medical care!

The sick patient :(

Despite Jordan feeling awful, we got in the car for his on call weekend and headed for our ultrasound appointment! Hoping to get baby moving for pictures, we ate at Chili's (my favorite) before our appointment! Food was yummy but Jordan looked less than thrilled to be sick and in a different place other than his bed! Still just as cute though :)

Our ultrasound appointment was pretty short and sweet. Baby face was buried in the placenta and she was burrowed in there pretty tight! Due to being so curled up and burrowed in a hole, it was hard for the computer to distinguish the difference between tissues to get a good shot of her face since it was up against the placenta.... and she wasn't moving for nothing! We tried going turning all different ways, walking around, and going to the bathroom. None worked! We rescheduled to come back for another try and left a little bummed. Such a stubborn girl!!

Here are a few that we did get. Hard to see and distinguish parts thought. She was skin and bones at that point, but she will start packing on that baby fat soon!

The day before we left for California, Jordan woke up with goop spewing out of both eyes! I was about ready to blow my top by then. He had been miserably sick all weekend, and coughing up everything under the sun, AND we were supposed to be leaving for California in 24 hours. AWESOME! So back to the Doctor we went to confirm that the virus had spread and he now had DOUBLE PINK EYE. Awesome is an understatement. Never fails, anytime we go on vacation or have a trip and take time off, the world comes crashing down! So here is Doctor visit #2......

Keep in mind that he hasn't been to the Doctor since he was about 15, so two visits in a 4 day span is insane for him!! And after visit #1 that included some "not so fun" tests, he was less than thrilled to be back a few days later.....and with more over the counter meds that do absolutely nothing!

Even though he was 5 days into a seriously awful sickness, we headed for Spokane, got on the plane, and headed to California in hopes for getting better while enjoying the warm weather!

We had soooo many fun things waiting for us when we got there!! We stayed with long time family friends of Jordan's, Barbara and Jack, in Simi Valley,CA. Their daughter, Sherre, also lives in that area and has 2 little girls that are the cutest!

The first day there, the girls headed out to shop and get pedicures! HEAVEN!! Me and lex grabbed a pic when we got there after lunch :) How cute is she??!!

While the girls played, the boys headed out go karting! These are some priceless shots :)

After an eventful first day of fun, we decided to go to the movies to see "Ride Along." Hilarious movie by the way! Anyways, right before we left, Jordan started complaining about his ear hurting really bad, adding to the already long list of sickness that he was battling. He looks normal in most of his pictures, but he was really just trying to screw on a smile and pretend everything was fine. While really in the background, he was coughing up a lung, taking tons of meds, and only sleeping 2 hours a night... The last thing he needed was an ear infection too! We got some ear drops and hoped that we wouldn't have to do another dr. visit while we were there.....Especially since the next day, Jordan had plans to go shooting with Jack, and he was soooo excited! He ended up going anyways and toughing it out. He had a blast and came home to showing off his "shooting stance"...... and maybe wanting a gun or 2 or 3 :)

The girls had some plans to do some fun photos at the park of Sherre and her super cute girls! Jordan needed some fresh air too from coughing too, so we headed to the park and captured these fun photos!!

We had to bribe them with playing on the toys afterwards with Jordan and I have to say, it worked pretty well! Jordan couldn't run quite as fast while coughing and choking, but he loved being able to play with them. Such a kids guy!

Kind of a spur of the moment decision, we took a few pregnancy pictures in between our little shoot. You can tell it was unplanned due to the unmatching of clothes and Jordan wearing basketball shorts, but you gotta take what you can get right?! It had been a rough week of sickness, so I was thrilled for him to screw on a smile and power through a few shots :) He is the best!

26 weeks and feeling HUGE after looking at this pic! My swollen face and hands didn't help these shots either.. oh well. Gotta love the joys of pregnancy!

We also found some time to sneak some fun in with Sherre and the girls at the local arcade and Lazertag place! So much fun watching them on the screen while shooting at each other!

By the time that we only had a few days left of vacation, Jordan was still seriously sick and hadn't gotten better at all! Each night he spent the whole night coughing at only slept from 5-7am after he had wore himself out from coughing and feeling miserable. His eyes were still spewing goopy stuff from pink eye and his ears were still hurting quite bad despite all the over the counter crap we were told to use. I literally had been playing nurse Elise every 4 hours for his round of meds. Sooo.... we headed BACK to the doctor in California for Doctor visit #3!!!! I was pretty furious by then and felt so bad at how sick Jordan was. In the almost 5 years we have been together, I had never seen him that sick before. We spent a couple hours in urgent care to find out that his sickness was actually bacterial NOT viral like both dumb Idaho doctors had originally, said which means that it should have been treated with PRESCRIPTION medicine NOT over the counter crap like they made us get all along. SOOOOOO mad!!! Due to not being treated with prescription antibiotics and eye drops in the first place for almost 7 days, it caused the infection to spread to a now double ear infection along with the STILL untreated chest infection and double pink eye. Furious is an understatement! If they would have given us the right meds in the first place, he could have been getting better waaaaayy before now and enjoying at least some of our vacation. Instead he just continued suffering while it spread elsewhere in his body. Needless to say he was given several prescription meds to start taking ASAP. Not fun!

Our last day in Simi Valley, we took a trip with everyone to a town a couple hours away called Solvang. It is a cute little Danish town that has tons of touristy shops and cute little restaurants. It was so fun! The food was super yummy and Jordan bought me a gorgeous necklace that I commented that I loved. What a great end to our trip!

Eating at the Greenhouse for lunch. YUM!!

Shopping around the town
The gorgeous beach sunset on the drive home!

After a long day of walking and shopping, we were all pooped on the drive home, Jordan included!

After a super fun week, we headed back home! Such a great trip!! We weren't too excited to go back to cold weather, but it was time to be home :)

After flying into Spokane after our trip, the very next day Jordan left for Seattle for an awards party for work! His district met a lot of goals for last year and won several awards, so the celebration was at a ritzy hotel in Seattle filled with good food, work colleagues, and fun events! SO proud of him! He earned it all! He was feeling a little better by then, but still a bit under the weather.

While he headed off to Seattle from Spokane, I stayed in Spokane for the day and tried again for some good 3D pics of baby girl. She was still super stubborn and wouldn't move, almost in the same position as last time! SO frustrating! If she only knew how much mommy and daddy love her already, we just wanted to see her sweet face! The best she gave us was her little side profile shot. She has a cute little button nose and is a thumb sucker! Again she wouldn't move for nothing and was burrowed in a little ball next to the placenta. We get one more try in a few weeks, so I am crossing my fingers that we get a few full face shots, otherwise, we will just have to wait to meet her!

In the meantime, we have been collecting so many baby things! Afterall, we are down to double digits till D day! We recently bought her carseat/stroller set, tons of clothes, and some other items too!

Baby girl's first pair of Nikes! Dad was thrilled and I can't get over how cute they are either!

Scored some serious deals and Macy's! Pretty sure she is set on clothes for a long while! Proud momma right here :)

Who knew that Hobby Lobby had super cute handmade things like chevron burp rags??!!! Um yes this was an exciting purchase :) Can't wait!!

Well that's about it... Things are crazy busy preparing for our little bundle of joy and now we are happy to get back into reality from vacation!

Hope all is well!

Love,
Jordan and Elise
